Cross Country Training

Currently the focus of many physical education classes is training for the cross country.

The John McGlashan cross country is on Thursday May 21.  The focus for most physical education classes presently is training for this.  Many classes take the opportunity to run through Ross Creek and there is also the not-so-popular 'Block Run' which takes in Pilkington, Passmore, Grater and Balmacewen Rd.

Students are encouraged to think about personal goals for the cross country, and how to achieve these.  A top placing in the annual cross country race is not a reality for all students, and in fact managing to finish it without stopping is the goal for some.  Whatever the outcome, students enjoy the challenge, and the opportunity to train with classmates to improve fitness.

Students are reminded that regular physical activity and enhanced fitness helps to improve performance in sports, and enhances personal well-being.  So, although the cross country is not everybody's 'cup of tea' it can be a very positive experience in goal setting, and improved well-being.

Some year levels have physical education sessions only twice a week, so if the boys are keen to achieve their goals in the cross country, they will need to think about going for some runs in their own time, out of school.

All the best for all students, especially those who are doing this for the first time at John McGlashan.
