National Young Leaders Day 2017

Leaders are not simply born. Through practical and inspirational experiences we can provide opportunities to unlock future leadership potential. May 29th was one of these chances.

A group of our Year 7 and 8 boys went to the Town Hall to participate in the National Young Leaders Day event with hundreds of other students.

The objectives of the day were:

  • Inspiration

  • Connection

  • Student empowerment

  • Promoting positivity

  • Motivation

  • Education

When asked what the highlights of their day or the most important take home message was the boys were quick to respond:

“ It was a really fun day, totally exceeding our expectations. There was such a variety of interesting speakers to inspire us”.

Some of the key messages that came out of the day were

  • No matter who you are, or what you look like you can change the world.

  • I am a seed born of greatness.

  • Impossibility is only someone’s opinion, not a fact.

  • The more shots you take, the more shots you get in.

  • Treat others the way you want to be treated.

  • Don’t let people push you around.

  • Challenge your thinking.

  • You become like the people you spend time with, so choose who you spend time with carefully.

  • Never give up the things you are good at.

  • You can leave the world a better place than you found it.
