The Royal New Zealand Ballet workshops at John McGlashan College are becoming a highlight of the drama calendar.

I believe that we have a school culture which is grounded, productive and respectful of diversity.

The Waihi exchange is eagerly anticipated by both schools. Winter exchanges in particular bring out the competitive spirit of all participants. 

As we approach the end of a busy term two, we have time to reflect on what the history department has been plotting.

John McGlashan College hosted St Andrew’s in the annual winter exchange. 

The pinnacle of all the secondary school cross country events is the National Secondary School Cross Country. 

Once again our winning spelling team has won the regional spelling competition held at Otago Girl's High 

Author Dav Pilkey was on a flying visit to Dunedin with a mission to give kids reading superpowers!

This year we have initiated a Marae trip for international students, to promote New Zealand's Maori culture and to give them an overnight experience on a Marae. Mingyu Jeong (Yr 10) from South Korea reports.......

The Caversham Road Relay is held on a block run around King's and Queen's High School's.

On 21st May, we participated in 'The Amazing Race' Social at the University with other international students from various schools around Dunedin.  Aries Pun (Yr 13) gives us a rundown of the event.

On Saturday 23rd May, I had the pleasure of accompanying our International students to the Year 12 and 13 school formal which was held at the Otago Museum. 

On Tuesday the 9th of June, the Otago Secondary School Cross-Country Championships took place at Gladfield Golf Course. 

Recently Luke Nie, Jack Grey and Boen Deng participated in the district rounds of the New Zealand Community Trust Chamber Music Contest. 

As well as the usual classroom stuff the boys have been getting out and about.

Thanks to a very generous donation made by John McGlashan parents Sandy Guy and Brendan Jarvie, the boys at McGlashan are getting to use specialised equipment to develop their motor-skills.

Its life within the Special Character of our College.  

The NCEA2 Drama class are currently working on a  drama devising achievement standard, using stories surrounding the events of September 11 2001. This week they were visited by Lara McGregor, Artistic Director of the Fortune Theatre, who was in New York City the day those terrible events unfolded.

John McGlashan College boys continue to show their strength across a number of sporting events.

Over the course of a week in March, two McGlashan teams competed in the South Island Secondary School Sunburst Championships. 

The Milton relay, also known as the Otago/Southland Relay is always a large and important event for the cross country boys. 

A Model UN is an event where a delegates, (people assigned to represent a specific country,) debate the best way to solve an important global issue according to their assigned countries views.

During week 5, Principal Neil Garry hosted breakfasts over three mornings for the parents of year 7 lads.

For the first time in many years the school Cross Country was run in and around the grounds of the College.
