Captain Underpants comes to McGlashan

Author Dav Pilkey was on a flying visit to Dunedin with a mission to give kids reading superpowers!

You may have wondered why the washing has been fluttering on the clothes line in ELC foyer over the last few weeks.  It's because we have been celebrating the visit of American author Dav Pilkey, who has written over 60 books in the Captain Underpants series.

The  library boasts the complete collection but some copies were getting very tired so we were thrilled that Dav gave us a copy of each of his latest Collectors' Edition series, every one signed and inscribed with one of his famous comic characters. 

He was very generous with his time and stayed on after the event signing books and drawing cartoons for an hour and a half and chatting to his fans  about his books and about reading.  This event sponsored by Dunedin Public Libraries and Scholastic NZ.
