John McGlashan College boys celebrate their success at the Milton Road Relays by Oscar Engelbrecht

Milton Road Relays

The Milton relay, also known as the Otago/Southland Relay is always a large and important event for the cross country boys.

The performances this year certainly did not disappoint with several outstanding individual performances as well as some impressive team results. The junior and senior boys teams are all run at the same time, competing in a 6x2000m relay over a grass and road course.

The Senior Boys 'A' Team managed to gain a credible first place with strong performances all round from all 6 members. This team consisted of Lochie Chittock, Nic Taylor, Ronald Poon, Oscar Englebrecht, Josh Stoddard and Oli Chignell. Oli dominated the fastest times competition, with Lochie Chittock also running one of the top 10 times. The Senior Boys 'B' Team placed 4th.

In the Junior Boys race there were strong challenges from Kings and OBHS, with the John McGlashan "A" Junior team coming in a credible 4th place, showing the depth of our up and coming runners. All in all it was a very successful trip to Milton for the squad, with a number of highly commendable performances especially from new comers asked to run.

Thanks to Mrs. Button and Mr. Carruthers for organising all the boys to get down there.
