Kia ora e te whānau. Our school cross country is coming up and we are excited to be able to practice outside and improve on our fitness.

Our senior classes are walking the track and getting used to running through the Khandallah Park. The track has changed from last year due to the construction area for the retaining wall rebuild. We will not be running around the top courts.

  •  Our main goal is to make the cross country experience enjoyable, educational, and enriching.

  •  Maintain a safe, healthy and caring environment, which stresses excellence, dedication and hard work as the basis for success, both in the sport and in life.

  • Help to develop a lifelong/school long love of physical fitness and staying fit.

  • Students will always give their best effort.

Please ensure your tamariki have shoes appropriate for jogging unfortunately Crocs are not suitable footwear for running.

Last week we had our Board Meeting and one of the items we discussed was the Junior Playground upgrade. Thank you to everyone who participated in the quick playground survey on Hero. We will take this into consideration as we investigate designs. We are still at the stage of collecting quotes from several providers with the board confirming our budget for this.

This week we had our first Whanau Hui for 2025 (pictured below). It was great to welcome some of our new tamariki and their whanau to our rōpū. We discussed where we would build our Māori te pou and confirmed the walkway past Kōwhai block would be welcoming. In traditional Māori narratives pou were pillars of light, used to keep sky and earth separated. This allowed the natural world to flourish and, in turn, people to prosper.

With only 1 more week before daylight savings hours change, I hope you all have a great weekend. It certainly is getting very dark in the mornings.
