Congratulations to our thespians who won two awards at the National Festival held last weekend. King's won the "Outstanding Stage Combat" Award and Zac Bell won, "Outstanding Individual Tragedy Role" Award.

This year two students entered the Manu Kōrero Speech Competition from King's High School. Manawa Singh in the Senior English section and Te Atarau Cassidy in the Junior Māori section. They were supported by He Waka Kōtuia, the King’s and Queen’s Kapa Haka rōpu on stage and a large contingent of King’s te reo Māori students and staff.

At the Opening Shoot of the Secondary School’s Triple S Competition, Fletcher scored 100.8 out of a perfect 100.10, which is off the scale for Smallbore and much celebrated for him.

Over the last two weeks, we have taken the opportunity to celebrate the success of our Year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 students from Term 1, who received 3.9 and above on their Weekly Notes.

What began as an idea in Book Gang, developed and grew into a wonderful week of fun activities focussing on reading and books.

Electronic devices have become an essential part of nearly every young persons’ life. A recent report by the OECD’s International Pupil Assessment Program (PISA) shows that NZ teens are among the world’s biggest internet users and on average spend more than six hours a day online.

This year we have joined with the choir from Queen's to form Polyhymnia. We have been working hard this term to learn three new pieces in readiness for the the Big Sing which is on Monday the 14th of June at the Town Hall.

Rob & Zareen are a husband and wife film making team with four children between them. While navigating the pros and cons of handheld devices in the current digital climate, they decided to start making documentaries and providing resources after discovering what children are accessing.

This year, we at King's High School have decided to partake in the 40 Hour Famine, fundraising for children living in sub-Saharan Africa who were impacted by the Covid pandemic.
