Climate Festival by Heike Cebulla-Elder

Climate Vote Festival

On the 23rd of September LPHS students took part in the last Otepoti climate action by attending the Climate vote festival.

It was a chance to voice their concerns about our climate crisis and make their voices heard - just before the elections. Eve Cowperthwaite’s speech reflected the dilemma of young people not having a voice in the 2023 elections by comparing herself to a passenger in a bus that is driven by someone else and Eve not having a say in which direction the bus is taking. Property of Marnie played their songs to show support for the festival and their fantastic music impressed all festival goers. A huge thank you to Charlie, Tomas, Giuliana and for their willingness and dedication to this event - you guys rock!

Dominic Mein and Callan Gemmell-Braisher were instrumental in running our stall in conjunction with Bayfield High School and so mature in approaching people with their concerns.
