The final group of Year 10 students went on camp in July.

Congratulations to Bill Campbell Yr 13 and Odin Hyink Yr 9 for their prize winning entries. Bill won a number of major prizes.

From July 8th - July 27th I (Laura) was with the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand Young Shakespeare Company 2022 (SGCNZ YSC). We travelled all the way from Auckland to Singapore to London, then to Stratford-upon-Avon and back again. During this time, we were tourists, students and actors.

The X-Country Ski and Snow cave experience took place at the Snow Farm, Cardrona Valley at the beginning of Term 3.

Year 12 and 13 Media Studies students worked very hard in Term Three on completing their short films.

Our LPHS Book Club members and superb Library Prefects generously contributed their time, ideas and creativity to plan an exciting School Library Week. This year’s theme was Travel, travel through reading, learn through reading.

Congratulations to our choir who performed at the Big Sing South Island Cadenza in Timaru in August.

A large group of Year 13 students enjoyed Leadership Camp in August in the beautiful Catlins area.

The 2022 NZ Engineering Science Competition took place on Saturday 6th August from 10am to 6pm.

The Dunedin Youth Writers Association (https://dunedinyouthwriters.wordpress.com/), led and created by LPHS Year 13s Darcy Monteath and Shima Jack and also Year 12 Hugo Todd, have just produced the first ever edition of their monthly writing anthology MINOR GOSPEL in conjunction with the Dunedin Public Libraries.

In August, I (Darcy) invited the Dunedin Abrahamic Interfaith Group to come and talk to our senior students about their experiences and involvement in their personal faiths.

In August we celebrated a lot of Maths events, tests and competitions.

All of our Groups should now have been equipped with a bucket to join in their House’s weekly endeavour to make our school grounds look beautiful. Of course Groups can go out anytime to collect rubbish and send us their photos from their efforts.

Early this year some budding mathematicians took part in the University of Otago Junior Mathematics Competition.

Congratulations to Ava Reid who won 3 books for our school library.

In August two teams from our year 11 Geography class took part in the inter-school Maatangi Whenua Geography quiz at the University of Auckland. They had a great time and did very well.

This year the Senior Debating has included several teams who have enjoyed learning about the art of rhetoric and rebuttal in a structured and civil form and using a range of viewpoints.

We were pleased to receive our Term 1 2022 analysis of Attendance Data in August.

On Thursday 18 August Footnote Dance Company came to visit the Dance students and ran a 2 hour workshop with the Senior Dance Class and Year 10 Dance Class.

We had great fun in Term Three on some of our Blast Off Friday trips.

As we know fashion plays a big part of French culture and when living in France I was always aware of being looked at if my dress sense was not up to the expectations (which happened quite often and that is why I love living in Aotearoa).
