NZAMT Senior Maths Competition

The New Zealand Senior Mathematics Competition ran again in 2023 on Thursday 10th August.

In 2022 there were 52 schools across the country participating, with 110 teams & 130 individuals (around 400 students competing). In 2023, the competition grew to involve 69 schools across the country, with 184 teams and 203 individuals (around 700 students competing).

Logan Park High School was well represented by five teams and three individuals.

An example of one of the earlier questions the students had to answer was:

Anna asked Beth “How old are your parents?”. Beth answered: “My mother is 4 years older than my father. When the sum of my parents’ ages was 84, the ages of me and my sisters were 14, 10, and 6. Now, the sum of my parents’ ages is twice the sum of the ages of me and my sisters.” Work out the current ages of everybody in the family.

Congratulations to all students who participated:
