The Logan Park Jazz Band has had a busy year! Nick Cornish has stepped in to fill the rather large shoes left by Mr. Dodd when he retired last year, taking over directorship of the band with flair and passion.

The start of the year mainly focused on working towards our performance at the Dunedin Youth Jazz Festival, which was held in August and is a celebration of high school jazz in Dunedin. The school played extremely well this year at the festival, bringing back an array of prizes.

The big band won Best Big Band, and Best Performance of a Contemporary/ Straight Eighths Piece.

DJ Dodd's Mega Tajine Taskforce, (our small combo) won Best Combo.

We also won a variety of individual awards:

Best Alto Saxophone - Jack Ta

Best Tenor Saxophone - Ava van Asten

Best Baritone Saxophone - Rosa Fyfe

Best Trumpet - Louis Robertson

Best Piano - James Hurley

Most Promising Piano - Jack Ta

Best Guitar - Eben Richardson

Best Bass - Izzy Fyfe

Most Promising Drums - Cora Chapman
