All the Year 10 classes, along with senior students, teachers and brand new international students enjoyed a week at Tautuku Lodge in the beautiful, scenic Catlins area either in May or in July.

Our wonderful Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour (RTLB), Liz Cameron was farewelled by staff in August. Liz has been appointed as a Counsellor at Kavanagh College and has started her new job.

Congratulations to Ava Straw who was the top Year 12 speaker in the Otago Alliance Francais French Speaking competition held at the University of Otago in August.  Ava also won last year when she was in Year 11.

Our previous Board of Trustees, Student Representative, Grant McNaughton has been chosen for the Dunedin City Council's new Youth Council initiative.

Congratulations to Head Boy, Jacobi Kohu-Morris who won the Lions New Zealand Young Speechmaker national final in Tauranga in August.

At the end of June, strong cross country runner, Henri Gaudin competed in the New Zealand Secondary Schools' Cross Country Champs in a huge field of 208 runners.

The CPIT Jazz and Rock School held a concert for Music students in August. 

Our senior students enjoyed their Formal Dinner and Dance in the last week of Term 2. 

We've enjoyed the end of season tough competition and hard fought battles on many fronts recently.

Outward Bound’s “Mind, Body and Soul” course was a life-changing experience. Outward Bound for me was a perspective change, a new confidence in myself and my abilities, an opportunity to learn not just about myself but other people and a move towards bettering myself.

Early in Term 3, my Year 13 Classics class had the privilege of being visited by a University of Otago lecturer, to expand our knowledge on Alexander the Great. 

The second Otago University History Department senior secondary school quiz was held on Monday night August 17th at the Student Union. Twenty teams represented their schools in answering a wide range of historically interesting questions ranging from Black Civil Rights to assassinations. 

On Tuesday 11 August we had three teams compete in each of the Year 9 and Year 10 O'MAthalon Competitions held at the Edgar Centre. 

Congratulations to Ahi Katai-Mullane, Year 11 who has been selected for the Rangatahi O Te Moana, University of Otago and NZ Marine Studies 5 day residential programme for gifted and talented students in Year 11 and 12 considering a career in the Sciences.

Beth Lynch in Year 9 won the Dunedin Secondary Schools' Poetry Competition in August.

It is with happiness for Christine’s future plans and sadness in having to say good-bye that we farewell Christine from her permanent position teaching Latin and Gateway at Logan Park High School. Christine came to our school as the Latin teacher in 2002, but her contribution has been much wider than this. She has also given much quality service, as the coordinator, teacher and establisher of the Gateway programme and as a long serving dedicated and very caring Toroa Group teacher.

On Monday 11 August Logan Park hosted the Number Work'nWords Senior O'Mathalon.

The season came to end with play off for the Division 1 title. The team, ably captained by Henri Gaudin did not lose a game all season. 

The LPHS Jazz Band of 15 members travelled to Christchurch on Friday 31st July to compete in the CPIT Jazzquest, a competition for high school jazz bands and combos, run by the teachers of the jazz course at the CPIT. 

The Otago Dance Association from the University of Otago visited Logan Park in August and performed in Assembly, as well as running a workshop for students.

The Otago regional representatives and National Winners of the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand were offered an offer they couldn't refuse. 

We enjoyed showcasing many of the diverse, creative and inspirational aspects of our school to Year 8 students and their whanau in the first week of Term 3.

Congratulations to our 2 teams who won 2 of the top 3 awards in the University of Otago Information Science Technology Challenge at the end of Term 2. Year 13 Digital Technology students Zak Booth, Rani Cohen and Michael Lagocki won Best Knowledge of Technology Award and Harrison Kennedy, Aiden Fisher and Nik Ahmad Sabry won The Audience Favourite Award.

We finished Term 2 with our traditional Karaoke Week. 

One of our senior film teams, "Woof Bloody Woof" have won national attention by winning the Rialto Channel Rising Talent award for their short film, Survivor Guilt, at the national finals of the 48hour film-making competitions announced in Auckland in July. 

Congratulations to our Senior Boys Badminton team who are the Dunedin Champions after winning a nail-bitingly close final against John McGlashan College, having previously beaten King's in the semi-final and dominating for 10 weeks in the local schools' competition.
