Senior Prizegiving was a great celebration of senior students and their diverse achievements in the academic, sporting and cultural arenas.  

We enjoyed hearing Year 9 and 10 students speak on a range of topics from Drilling to the TPP agreement to Self-esteem in our annual Junior Speaking competition.

Congratulations to Briana Lane and Sujata Ritchie who were both awarded Otago Polytechnic Young Achievers' Awards recognising their significant achievements across a range of areas. 

A number of our students have been recognised and awarded top Otago University Scholarships or Otago Polytechnic Scholarships and Tuchin Baucus has been offered several university scholarships for top American universities.

Senior Art 2015 was finished off with the end of year art exhibition, with parents and friends of the senior art students coming in to view Level 1, 2, and 3 portfolios in November. 

Meran Campbell-Hood has been selected for Powering Potential, The Royal Society of New Zealand event for 40 top young scientists in the country in December.

Three of our senior Futsal teams made it to the finals of their divisions. Our Senior Boys A Futsal team won their division in a thrilling final 2-1 against Otago Boys and our Senior Girls B team played KVC and won their division.

Aidan Braid, Deputy Head Boy has been selected as one of 14 young people in New Zealand to go on the 2016 Young Blake expedition in February next year. Initially he was selected as one of 52 students to attend an Enviro-Leaders forum in Rotorua during the April holidays. He impressed there and has been selected for this voyage. 

Ahi Kaitai Mullane (Yr 11) has not only won a place on "Rangatahi O Te Moana", a venture run by the Uni of Otago and NZ Marine Studies Centre, but has also won 2 scholarships for 'Hands on Science".

Our International students enjoyed a special Summer School of activities. Highlights include a 4 day tramp in one of our beautiful national parks, visiting the Orokonui Ecosanctuary and historic Olveston, an awesome tour of the Otago Peninsula including seeing yellow-eyed penguins, blue penguins and fur seals as well as visiting a working sheep farm.

We farewelled our wonderful Year 13 leavers in early November. They sat their final NCEA exams and now have moved on to their next adventures.

Our Student Council hosted a "Farewell Mr McKinney" party in November.

Congratulations to multi-linguist Ava Straw (Year 12) who has won the national Alliance Francaise Concours French Speaking competition. Her prize is a trip to New Caledonia.

Congratulations to two of our Shakespearean Actors, Luke Major and Jimmy Robinson. They were selected to attend the prestigious Globe Theatre in London in 2016 as part of the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand Young Shakespeare Company.

The Annual Inter-House Rowing Competition features plenty of House spirit and pride in Term 4 . The overall winners for 2106 were Aoraki.

Congratulations to Luke Major, Jimmy Robinson and Reva Grills for being part of the National Shakespeare Schools Production (NSSP) week in Wellington during the October Holidays.

We enjoyed some trans-Tasman rivalry and robust competition against Kingaroy College from Australia in the last week of Term 3.

A group of senior History students, teachers and parents enjoyed their 3 week tour of Turkey, Greece and Italy, organised by History teachers Mr Fielding and Mr Enright. 

International students and staff farewelled our lovely International Director, Amber Fraser-Smith, on the last day of Term 3.

We ended Term 3 with a fantastic lunchtime Music Concert and Market Stalls.
