Hayley and Eliza went round the learning spaces showing how the Archimedes screw works. It was invented for transporting water from lower ground to higher ground for irrigation. This made it easier than carrying buckets full of water.

We were able to show and explain how the screw turned and lifted the water up. We needed to turn it in the water but not right under because it had to have air to push the water up. We used the bottle of water with a balloon on top to show how the air pressure pushed the water up through the straw like a pump.
