Spirit week 2022 has been a resounding success.

Last night we celebrated our Year 10's of 2021 that earned the Mackenzie College Year 10 Diploma.

This week, our focus has been on distractions in a classroom. We've been remembering what we went over, and what distractions we came up with. Each form class made jamboards, which were full of amazing ideas!! Congratulations to the badge recipients this week.

Spirit week is a long-standing tradition at Mackenzie College. We are looking forward to students and staff getting behind the themes and activities.

Gracie, is part of the Wakatipu Wild womens ice hockey team that have just won the nationals!

Last week at the PTA meeting the new chair, Andrew Hurst, presented flowers to Mandy Hay and Jo O'Neill in recognition for their years of dedicated service as past chair and treasurer.

On Monday the 12th of September a group of eight, year 9 & 10 students went to Christchurch to compete in the Get 2 Go challenge. This is a multi-challenge event, consisting of mountain biking, orienteering, puzzle solving and a water activity. Well done to the team, they came 7th out of 20 schools from the Canterbury/Aoraki region.

Our girl, Molli O'Neill has just won the South Island secondary school giant slalom snowboarding title. Awesome news, congratulations, Molli!

After an outstanding year representing Mackenzie College in the Roncalli-Aoraki Combined 1st XV, Kieran has scooped the two biggest prizes at tonights RAC prizegiving. A truely remarkable achievement. Congratulations, Kieran!

With Learning Conferences this Friday 16th September, it might be a good time for students to also return any trophies that they were presented with at Prize Giving last year.

Thomas Crawford had an amazing time with the rest of the New Zealand team at the World Skate Oceania Championships held in Timaru over the weekend. They managed to better the Aussies in the 3000m Cadet Boys Relay and won the Gold comfortably. Well done, Thomas and the New Zealand team.

A huge thank you to Fairlie Kindergarten for their kind donation of plants for the ongoing beautification of Mackenzie College.

Gracie currently represents The Wakatipu Wild in the Women's National Ice Hockey League. Last weekend her team played two games against Auckland Steel, winning the first game 3-0 and the second 6-3. Her team is currently at the top of the table and will play Dunedin this weekend, with finals the week after. This is an outstanding accomplishment. Well done, Gracie.

Our Year 10 students are bringing home the Spirit of Adventure trophy after competing against 3 other schools over a 5 day Spirit challenge. Awesome news. Congratulations, team!

Ollie Nelson was invited to attend a Crusader Development Day at Rugby Park in Christchurch.
