On Friday 19 May two bands from our College entered the Smokefree Rockquest Heats at the Globe Theatre in Palmerston North.
Smokefreerockquest is New Zealand’s only nationwide, live, original music, youth event. Now in its 29th year, the series of over 40 events reaches audience numbers in excess of 10,000 every year.
Smokefreerockquest aims to motivate young musicians to prove their ability and realise the heights they can reach in their music careers, and to encourage their peers to support original New Zealand music.
Both bands from Manawatu College made it through to the regional finals on the 2nd June at the Regent in Palmerston North.
The regional final featured some tough competition with Indie rock band Fruit Juice Parade from Palmerston North Girls’ High School taking out the competition. Six piece pop band Sunk Five from Waiopehu College placed second and our very own Fusion, third!
Congratulations to both bands!
