The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is celebrated in the Southern Hemisphere between Ascension Sunday and Pentecost Sunday, thus from 21 to 28 May in Aotearoa New Zealand for 2023. The theme for this year is “Do good; seek justice” from Isaiah 1:17.
The first quarter of 2023 has seen a flurry of activities across the region. From the Republic of the Marshall Isalnds to Nauru and Kiribati, the Pacific Conferenece of Churches has been involved in a series of activities. These included the training of trainers in Child protection methods and creating safe churches in the region. A concerted effort has been made to involve the Northern Pacific churches in regional activities in a greater way.

This climax of Holy Week in the Christian calendar came from Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral, Auckland. Interwoven with te reo Māori, the Eucharist is presided over by the Reverend Ivica Gregurec, the Cathedral’s Precentor. The music was provided by the Cathedral choir under the direction of Peter Watts.
The ACT Alliance Appeal has raised over US$4.5 million for the response in Syria.
