Principal's Message

by Sue Cattell

Kia ora whānau. While the weather has been fickle, to say the least, we have still managed to have many of the planned outdoor activities. The Year 0/1 athletics morning went ahead, as did the Year 3 and Year 4 activities. We have our fingers crossed for the Festival of Song tonight as there is no save date and the children are very excited for it to happen. We cannot use the hall as we wouldn’t fit and would exceed the capacity numbers for fire safety. Please bring a raincoat and an “it’s only a bit of rain” attitude. If it is torrential we will have to cancel and will let you know this afternoon via Hero.

Year 0/1 Learner Profile Attribute

by Beverley Smith

This week, the Learner Profile Attribute that we have been focusing on is Knowledgeable. Being knowledgeable means that we know many things, we know what to do, and we remember what we have learned. It also means that we know where and how to find new information to increase our knowledge. The Knowledgeable certificates this week were awarded to Jordy and Laura in Room 17, Abby and Bryn in Room 16, Gianna and Miller in Room 15, Sebastiao and Lilia in Room 14, Naomi and Eva in Room 13, Daren and Harper in Room 4, Clemmie and Betsey in Room 18. Congratulations to all these learners.

Stormwater Sleuths Report

by Jessica Han

Our Stormwater Sleuths have worked hard, studying the impact of our school on stormwater pollution in our catchment. At the best of times, it has been an interesting study in human behaviour; “How did that get there?!” and at other times it was a distinctly mucky and stinky job! Our student scientists got on with it like the professionals they have become and embraced the other learning opportunities that arose around the topic.

Year 3 Report

by Nirelle Armstrong

This week the Year 3 team enjoyed a day of fun to celebrate the year that has been. We started the day with a visit to Sylvan Park where the children took part in a rotation of activities including tee-ball with Miss Armstrong, relays with Mrs von Collas, and a scavenger hunt with Miss Campbell. Upon our return to school, the children enjoyed a shared lunch. They loved trying food from different cultures as well as each other's favourites. The day was finished off with a swim in the school pool. Below are some photos from the day.

Spring League Netball

by Beverley Smith

On Saturday the Year 4 teams played their last netball game at Netball North Harbour in the Spring League. To celebrate the end of the 2022 netball season, all the teams were allowed to dress up and play in costumes. It was great to see one of the Year 4 teams all dress up in pink, while the other Year 4 team sported cool sunglasses. Both teams did really well in the Spring League, and have tremendously improved their skill levels. Thank you to the coaches and manages of both these teams. Your time and efforts are highly appreciated.
