Principal’s Message

by Sue Cattell

Kia ora koutou katoa. What a fabulous atmosphere in the school on Wednesday at our Student-Led Conferences. It was so lovely to see and hear the great learning conversations that were happening. Thank you to those who came (so many of you) and for being such active participants in the conferences with your child. These conferences place the child as the leader, and present an opportunity for them to prepare, reflect on, share, and discuss evidence of their learning and growth.

Kids for Kids

by Linda Vane

The Kids for Kids Concert was held last night at the Bruce Mason Theatre in Takapuna. It was an amazing spectacle with fifty four children from Milford School attending. Jackie Clark and Nathan King hosted the show and really encouraged the children from eleven different schools to perform to the best of their ability. The children from Year 4- 6 have been practising all year and we were all so pleased that we were able to go ahead with the show. With so many disappointments throughout the year what a special night it was to celebrate. It will be a great memory of 2020.

This term we have been using the Pouaka Room green screen to produce a short video for our Wonder Project competition entry in STEM. We love the game ‘Among Us’ so we decided to use this as our theme in our video (see below), we hope you enjoy it! It even features a cameo from our very own Ms Cattell! A special thanks also goes to James from our Board of Trustees who has been supporting us with everything from engineering to editing over the last term and a bit!

“Team Bridge” consisted of 7 boys and parents who competed in the Auckland Marathon – 11 km Transverse race on Sunday. This race went from Smales Farm, over the harbour bridge and finished in Victoria Park. The lead up consisted of individual and group runs and the boys were buzzing leading up to the event. On race day the boys did an amazing job and all ran 11km. It was an amazing event and they were full of energy, showed great motivation for each other and had so much fun!

Shore to Shore

by Linda Vane

Many thanks to the families who have signed up to run or walk the Shore to Shore on Sunday. We are sure you will have a wonderful day. The overall numbers are down somewhat from previous years but we have a large group who have entered and will help our school to get sports equipment. Everyone should have received their number by now as they have all been given out. Remember to pin them to your shirt to show you have registered. We hope you really enjoy your day!

Just to let you all know that we are again collecting for Age Concern. If you would like to donate something, please either send it along with your child to their classroom, or drop it off in the office. The elderly people who are recipients of these gifts absolutely love receiving the special messages from the children. Many are on their own and do not have family to share Christmas with. We will have all goodies ready for collection on December 3.
