Principal's Message

Kia ora whānau. The staff had a great two days of learning on Monday and Tuesday, with the teachers being at TNIS for a combined PYP workshop, and the learning assistants being here at school involved in other PLD. Learning is ongoing and never-ending, and they certainly modeled being life-long learners.

What is a growth mindset, and why does it matter?

by Nicola Hewitt

Carol Dweck a psychologist and Professor of Psychology at Stanford University coined the terms fixed mindset and growth mindset to describe the underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence. When students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Therefore they put in extra time and effort, and that leads to higher achievement.

YUMMY STICKER PROMOTION 🍏🍎 CLOSES WEEK 10

by Admin

The Yummy sticker promotion is set to go again for 2022, time to get crunching and collecting stickers. Last year threw us all some curved balls, but this year we are excited to be celebrating our 25th anniversary of running this promotion for schools. Everything is basically the same as previous years, sticker charts are the same and available on our website. One thing you may find, is some Hailstone Hero apple bags. We had a wild spring storm hit us in Hawkes Bay, damaging a significant amount of our apple crop with hail. Although these look funny, they still taste yummy. The official cut-out is not on these bags, but you can collect the round bar-code sticker as 10 points. These are Yummy apples but branded Hailstone Heroes and available in both New World and Pak’n Saves.

Netball

by Beverley Smith

The Year 4 team played their last netball game on Monday at Netball North Harbour and displayed excellent netball skills, including teamwork and sportsmanship. The team made great strategic passes, and also defended the ball fiercely to have a convincing win over their opponents. We are so proud of the huge development the girls have all shown. I would like to thank the coach and manager for giving their time and effort to ensure the smooth-running of the team, as well as all the players and their parents for their commitment to attending the games weekly. Now that the season is over, all netball uniforms need to be washed and returned to Mrs Smith in Room 16. Thank you.
