Principal’s Message

by Sue Cattell

Kia ora! One of the things that I love the most about being the Principal of our school is seeing the joy on the faces of our students as they are involved in the things they love. It can be sport, music, learning, or something else altogether, but this morning it was music. The school orchestra played to an audience, our students, and all the hard work they have put into practising, shone through. The joy on their faces was very evident and all of us in the audience really enjoyed listening to them. They even had a guest conductor this morning – me!! That was a real privilege and I love that they asked me to do that. Our school orchestra has come together through the talent of our music teacher who shares, with these groups, her passion for music and her commitment to high standards. Thank you Eugenie Middleton!

Our Week of Words

by Nirelle Armstrong

In Week 11 of this term, we will be celebrating all things literacy during Our Week of Words. Throughout the week, there will be various activities the children will be able to take part in, including visits from guest authors. During the author visits, the children will be able to gain valuable insights into what it means to be an author, and how authors work to engage their readers. Guest authors include Vasanti Unka for Year 0-3 and James Russell for Years 4-6. These are well known authors who we think will really inspire the children.

Spaghetti tower challenge - Year 4 STEM

by Nicole Brown

Last week in STEM, Year 4 students worked in groups to build the tallest tower they could using only spaghetti and marshmallows! There was a huge demonstration of the Learner Profile attributes from the students: being reflective in their design process, demonstrating knowledge of stable structures, inquiring into different building methods and being effective communicators to work within their teams. Our tallest tower clocked an impressive 62cm, a formidable effort! Here are some photos of our engineers hard at work.
