Principal's Message

by Sue Cattell

Kia ora whānau. We have been really enjoying having all the children back at school. The teachers are saying how good it is to have regular learning again, and how any gaps that the students have, are able to be filled. I helped one of the junior classes with swimming supervision this morning, and this photo above shows the joy these children had at being in the pool. It reminded me how the many aspects of our programmes are so important and help build class culture.

Mufti Day - Thursday 17 March

by Admin

Next Thursday we will be having a mufti day, and as it will also be St Patricks Day, we thought it would be fun to make it a "Come Dressed in Green' theme. Students can come to school dressed in their mufti, something green being optional for those who want to, and bring a gold coin. It is also a Jesters Pie Day - see other article for details on that.

Gardening Club

by Iris Leng

The tamariki worked with herbs this week at Gardening Club. We planted coriander seeds with Mrs Sommers and learnt how to make rosemary cuttings with our parent helper Charlotte. The children learnt to peel off a small branch off the rosemary stem to create a 'heel', or to make a cutting near a leaf 'node'. Our hands all ended up smelling amazing.

Room 14

by Danelle Patching

This week at swimming, Room 14 practised kicking, blowing bubbles, and swimming through the hoop by putting our heads under the water. We are beginning to learn how to float on our backs using the kick boards to help us. Swimming is one of our favourite things to do at school and we are building our confidence each week. We can't wait until our next session at the pool!

P is for pompoms

by Iris Leng

Room 9 and Room 17 buddy time This week, Room 17 has been focussing on the letter 'p'. Our big buddies from Room 9 came along this Friday morning to make pompoms with us. The Year 4s worked together with the Year 1s to wrap colourful wool around blocks, making sure it was puffy and tight. We were so happy with our pompoms in the end.

Room 12

by Loren Morris

The children in Room 12 have been fascinated by the transformation of our tadpoles into froglets. This has been such an amazing learning experience for them and has led to many conversations. Thank you to Mrs Palmer for organising for us to have the tadpoles in our room and witness the process of metamorphosis.

Who We Are

by Nirelle Armstrong

During our unit on Who We Are, Year 3 have been learning how to create healthy relationships by looking after our own wellbeing and by relating well to others. In order to look after our own wellbeing, we have been using mindfulness to explore themes that help us to build resilience and look for the good things around us. We know that having a positive mindset helps us to face challenges when they arise. In learning about relating well to others, we have explored what makes a good friend and what makes a good team member. We learned that a big part of making friends is making connections with others.
