Principal’s Message

by Sue Cattell

Kia ora koutou katoa. What a great day the Shore to Shore event was! Thank you to those who entered and helped us to be in the top 3 schools for entries. A Sports Distributor order form is on its way to school for us to choose free sports equipment! A huge thank you to Kylie Frost-Mackay and her family who set up and manned the Milford tent. While there were no sausages this year, the ice-blocks went down a treat. The event is being run at its usual time next year (March/April) so there is time to train for those competitive people. A massive congratulations to Joseph Hemphill who ran the 5.7km course, coming second in a time of 24.27! Awesome time Joseph!!

Takapuna AFC Soccer Tournament

by John Smallfield

On Wednesday the 11th of November, two teams from Milford played in the annual soccer tournament. Luck was on our side as the weather held and a good day of action packed football was enjoyed by all. Both teams started slowly but over the day both progressively got better. The Year 5 team came 4th going down to Hauraki 4-1 and the Year 3 team saved their best for their last game defeating Hauraki 7 – 0, coming in third. A big thank you to Simon Ploughman for coaching the Year 5 Team and a big thanks for all the parental support.

It was great to see such a wonderful turnout of student's and parents at this year's Shore to Shore event, despite the weather. We had lots of children achieving personal bests and we are thrilled to tell you that one of our year 6 students, Joseph Hemphill, finished 2nd in a time of 24:27 and Cameron Gordon finished 8th and was the 6th boy home. There were 129 competitors in the timed run and we were told about 2000 runners overall participated on the day.

Garden to Table Seedling Sale

by Grace Osborne

We would like to say a very big thank you for supporting this year's Garden to Table seedling sale. It is only the second time we have held this event but will certainly look to do it again next year! Although we didn't sell everything we still managed to raise $207.00 Every last dollar really helps us as it means we can purchase extra tools and items for our garden sessions.

TOO MANY LATE CHILDREN

by Linda Vane

I have noticed over these last few weeks that there are increasing numbers of children coming to school late. The bell goes at 8.55am, when all children should be in class ready for roll call. Your child is at risk when they either walk to school after this time or get dropped off. There is a teacher on duty outside the school on the crossing from 8.30am until 9.00am making sure each child is safe. After this they move to class closing the safety gate as they do so.

EPro8 Semi-finals at TNIS

by Nicole Brown

On Friday we went to TNIS to compete in the EPro8 Semi-finals where 24 teams battled through 2.5 hours of engineering challenges for one of two places in the Grand Final. A huge congrats to our two EPro8 teams who competed at TNIS on Friday. The teams worked together to solve engineering problems for 2.5 hours with no breaks and did incredibly well, we are all so proud of you! A special mention goes to the Milford Maniacs who placed 3rd after leading the scoring for 2 hours 15 mins of the competition! Miss Brown is looking forward to seeing many more engineers get involved in EPro8 in the future to defend our titles!

AGE CONCERN NORTH SHORE CHRISTMAS GIFT APPEAL!

by Linda Vane

Just to let you all know that we are again collecting for Age Concern. If you would like to donate something, please either send it along with your child to their classroom, or drop it off in the office. The elderly people who are recipients of these gifts absolutely love receiving the special messages from the children. Many are on their own and do not have family to share Christmas with. We will have all goodies ready for collection on December 3.
