Inter-Intermediate Kapa Haka Festival

Newlands Intermediate Kapa Haka represents at the Inter-Int Kapa Haka Festival

On Friday 10 November, our Kapa Haka Group performed at the Inter-intermediate Kapa Haka Festival. We arrived early to catch the bus to Upper Hutt. Once we got there we waited on the grass to be welcomed. Maidstone were the hosts and they welcomed us with a whakatau. Then the day got started. We went straight to our room to get ready and then we lined up backstage listening to all the other performances.

We headed on stage and gave it our best. It was a very special moment performing together for the last time outside of school. It was amazing to watch all the other groups perform and we definitely got inspired.

Newlands Intermediate Talent Show

Students shine on stage at the Newlands Intermediate Talent Show

On  Monday afternoon 17 incredible items took the stage for our 2023 talent show. It's been a while since we've been able to have one due to COVID restrictions in previous years, so it was amazing to all be together again. The performances ranged from dance, to vocal performances and instrumental pieces.

Students had been rehearsing in their syndicates over the past month and after heats in each syndicate, 3 - 5 representatives were chosen to compete in the school talent quest. A big congratulations to the following winners:

1st Place: Feng Yao on the Violin

2nd Place: Catherine on the Piano

3rd Place: Shaun and Isaac on Drums and Guitar
