Taking Action day is coming up, like last term this will involve a lot of craft materials, so if you have any at home we will happily take them off your hands to put towards a day of following the technological process and constructing a... Well, that would be telling now wouldn't it, you'll have to wait and see!

Reading

We have made some small changes to reading groups for next week in the wake of our reading tests, you may find your child has a new reading teacher starting next week.

In Mr Horn's reading class we are taking a break from chapter books to pursue non-fiction books and research projects.

This week we were able to take advantage of some nice weather and get outside to do our reading, which was lovely.

Writing

Some of our writers have been learning about narrative writing. They will be learning to describe characters, settings and events. This will include structuring a story with a beginning, middle and end, and using speech marks correctly.

Mr Horn's writing class was writing about the construction site around Room 20 and 21 while Mr Morehu and Ms O'Louglin's class reflected on their favourite science experiment so far for the term.

Maths

With ASB GetWise coming to see us this week our learning in Maths has been focused around Financial Literacy.

We learned about the different denominations on New Zealand money and how to prioritise the difference between needs and wants. We also learned about how to add two prices together to get a total, factoring in adding the dollars, cents, and converting cents into dollars if they exceed 100.

The Arts

We have began our final arts rotation, Mr Morehu's class is learning about dance with Ms Pickering, Ms O'Loughlin's class is learning about painting and the colour wheel with Mr Horn, and Mr Morehu is teacher Mr Horn's class about sketching. 

PE

Due to the bad weather, while Mr Horn had half the hub learning how to do the circle roll and forward roll, Mr Morehu and Ms O'Loughin took the other half of the class for some yoga and brain gym! 

What's Coming Up

- We are hosting assembly on Monday at 2pm

- Mr Horn is on ICT release on Tuesday

- Ms O'Loughlin is on Leadership release on Thursday

- Mr Morehu will not be at school on Monday and Mr Horn will be away on Thursday.
