The End of Term 2

Despite the fact it was the end of term, it was still an action packed term.

CARE Certificates

Well done everyone who earned a Bronze Award this week!

Reading

This week was mostly a reading test week, however Mr Horn took any readers reading at turquoise or above down to the school library to teach them how to use the chapter book section. From now on those readers will be able to issue out chapter books from the library.

Writing

This week we continued writing descriptions, this time of fantasy locations such as underwater kingdoms, magical forests, and magical castles. We had to use describing words, write a minimum of three sentences and we began to learn some simple editing skills.

Maths

Well done to Connor, Leah, and Arden for earning the Maths Whizz certificates this week.

While Mr Morehu and Ms O'Loughlin's class finished up their learning about time, this week Mr Horn's class have been using our class robot Cubido.

We had to plan a sequence on a programming board and then implement it to try and get Cubido to follow a path on a planned "adventure". One of the adventures was in Egypt and he had to collect two sets of gems while not touching any of the water squares.

We had to use some trial and error, problem solving, perseverance, and computational thinking to solve these challenges.

Topic

We went on a tour of the school to look at all the hard work each of the hubs have done in their sustainability topic this term. We saw some amazing stuff and are very impressed with how much each hub has done and learned this term.

Shared Lunch

What a bunch of piggies we are! We started with five full tables of food and ended up with a single plate left over! If you have a container that did not make it home they will be in Room 19 at the beginning of term.

The Arts

We didn't quite manage to fit in our final lesson in the arts rotation, so we will have to have a catch up session early next term before we start the next rotation.

Things for Next Week...

- Enjoy the holiday!
