Reading
In Mrs Kings Reading class the students have been continuing trying their best to decode tricky words, comprehend what they are reading, and clarify ideas or words they are unsure of. They also really enjoyed reading the end of Mr Stink.
In Miss Doig and Mrs Griffiths's class, the children have been continuing to work on Managing themselves and making sure they get their weekly activities done. They have been working on Rhyming words this week we had words that rhyme with Pan. They are continuing to work hard on sounding out the words they are reading during their reading sessions.
Writing
In our Writing this week we completed an apple volcano experiment. Mrs King and Miss Doig cut holes in the apples and then we put baking soda in the apples and then vinegar and watched it all bubble out the top like a volcano.
In Mrs Griffiths's writing class we wrote about a time where we got stung by something Swamps, Birds and what we know about New Zealand. The children are getting really good at sounding out their words as they write them.
Maths
In Maths, students continue to use different strategies to solve problems. In Mrs Griffiths's class, we have started to incorporate different games and problem-solving. Problem-solving is a way where the children can use the skills they have learnt in a group session and apply those skills. They are also able to discuss strategies with a partner and work together to solve problems.
Integrated Topic
For integrated topic, last week we had a wee peep through the fence to see our new spaces for next term. We discussed what furniture we would like to keep, get rid of, and possibly buy. Students loved having a say and discussing the exciting future of our new learning spaces. This week we are going to start drawing our ideas on a grid of paper setting out the furniture for our new space.
Te Reo Maori
Maori this week we joined hub 3 once again and practised our karakia that we are getting better at and how to complete a special Maori assembly that we will be going with the whole school at some point. Students showed respect and tried their best to remember the karakia and waiata. Ka Pai
