Our Hub 2 Waka made it's debut this week showing that the students work together in all that we do. The students each designed their own waka padel and have a picture of them holding it in the waka. This is in room 20 (ripo) if you wanted to check it out!

This week we started our art rotations which includes dance/music, drama and visual arts. In drama students looked into emotions, how to express them and then put it all together in a game of charades. In dance students had a dance party and showed off their favourite dance moves that we all tried together. In visual arts the students experimented with colour and looked into what colours represent different emotions.

In Reading, students have been reading a range of different books, decoding words with their teacher and developing their comprehension skills to remember and understand what they have read. On Friday Mrs King’s reading class created their own superhero masks after reading Dan the Flying Man as their weekly big book. Mrs G and Miss Doig’s reading classes created moving paper gruffalos as our book was The Gruffalo.

In Writing, we did instructional writing around how to wash your hands. This has been a great activity for students as they have not only been doing lots of writing but also going over how to properly wash their hands ensuring we all stay safe and clean. Some students have even gone a step further and completed a good copy of their work.

In Maths, we have been using splat which is a great warm up game getting students to workout how many spots are being covered by the splat this is a fun and educational game working towards students ability to work out equations in their heads. Students show great enthusiasm in maths especially when completing splat as they love revealing the answer and celebrating when they get it right.
