Elshke Chadinha - February 24, 2019
Over the last couple of weeks the students have been exploring Measurement - how short or tall something is.
We gave students a range of activities to build on this new learning.
- Measuring dinosaurs, bean stalks and penguins using cubes
- Measure objects around the class using cubes
- Sorting caterpillars from shortest to tallest.
To extend students we had an activity set up to work on using a ruler by connecting dots to reveal a picture. From there we could assess which students were ready to use a ruler as another measuring tool.
We also looked at different shapes - the students had to match shapes to complete a picture.
The students also enjoyed making use of the Numicon - using these to fill up a board, they then identify all the different Numicon shapes they used and attempt to count them all together.
