Liz Brash - July 2, 2020
We just want to say a huge thank you to the Parents and Caregivers of the Hub 2 children for all the work you did over lockdown it has made a really positive impact on the children in their return to school.
Please enjoy a collection of photos from the Term.
Reading - This week in Reading we have been reading Greedy Cat goes to the Market for our big book. He's a sneaky, fat ginger cat that likes to eat a lot and he snuck to the market to steal sausages and Poppy followed. After a week of reading our book, we made a cat masks each as a fun end of term activity.
The children have continued their reading rotations this week and will have at least a book for the Holidays it is really important to keep up with some reading even if it is them being read to.
Maths - In maths we have started looking at fractions and how to show a 1/2 and 1/4 and for some groups 1/3 and 1/5.
We have been using circles and dividing them into parts to find fractions of circles and of the numbers themselves.
Writing - This week we published one of our experiments, publishing is a tricky skill to master copying the teacher's corrections and copying our own writing and what we wrote in our writing book we are really proud of the kids for their efforts.
Integrated Learning - This week we have been painting Rainbow Fish to go with our kindness unit which we will send home next term. The Rainbow Fish story has a really good message about how it's always important to be kind to others. This term we have also learnt about giving each other compliments and have made compliment posters a kindness jar to show ways we have been kind to others in our class.
Shared Breakfast - Thank you to all of you for providing something to share and for coming in, it's so nice to be able to celebrate the end of term with something special and spend some time together as a hub.
It's been a long and interesting Term but we have loved almost every minute of it and we are so excited about coming back in Term 3 with lots of new learning for our Tamariki we hope you all have a wonderful holiday.
