Elshke Chadinha

This week the tamariki were all involved in different activities to learning more about the Maori New Year and what Matariki really means for us.

In hub 2, we started the week off by listening to stories,  and reading books about Matariki in order to better understand this important day/week.  Our tamariki engaged in different activities during class and play time. These activities including things like:

Matariki art (weaving, colouring in and star making)

Learning Matariki songs

Going on a Matariki scavenger hunt

Competing in the mihi bee

Writing about Matariki

Ivy was using her active thinking at home by making an amazing Matariki display! Thank you for sharing that with us Ivy!

We encourage you to ask your child what they have learnt this week and you might learn something new as well :) The Matariki macarena was a great hit!

We are very proud of the students and how much effort they put into learning about something new this week.
