Check out what Hub 2 has been up to this week!

It has been a very exciting week in Hub 2! It was wonderful to welcome the children into our new Hub after the holiday break. This week our main focus has been setting up the class routines and expectations for a successful term of learning... and fun!

Reading

This week for our reading sessions we all read the big book 'A Safe Place'. We focussed on answering comprehension questions and investigating new vocabulary. We are looking forward to starting our guided reading groups next week.

Writing

This week we wrote about our favourite holiday memory. We added extra detail to our writing by using the 5Ws (when, what, where, who, why), WOW words and descriptive language.

Maths

Miss Diog and Mrs Lutterman's maths groups focussed on number knowledge and strategy.

This term Mrs Griffiths will be doing Unplugged Coding with children at different times during our maths sessions. They will also have the opportunity to use Maths Whizz when they are working with her.

Integrated Topic

For Integrated Topic, we have been discussing kindness. Some simple things that we have been doing to show kindness to our classmates are; greeting each other in the morning, inviting others to join in games and helping someone complete a job. On Friday we celebrated Pink Shirt Day, a day where we come together to take action against bullying.

Te Reo Maori

On Friday morning we had a whole school Mihi whakatau where new staff and students were officially welcomed to our school. This term we are learning to use Te Reo Maori when talking about the weather. On Friday is was very windy 'Kei te pupuhi te hau'.

Physical Education

This week we had a lesson with Kelly Sport. We did shuttle runs, cricket skills and discus.
