Alex HORN - May 18, 2018
Reading
Next week we will be starting running records, your child may be brining home old favourites at this time. This is always a good time to check in with your child's reading teacher if you have any questions or just want to know how your child is doing in reading, as always we love having these conversations and will gladly schedule you in any time.
Writing
This week in all our writing classes we have been writing about Bully Free Week, acts of kindness, and how we can make Oaklands school a better place.
Maths
Well done to Ra, Amelia, and Shubh for winning the Maths Whizz certificates this week!
Mr Horn's Maths lass is STILL the #1 Maths Whizz using class in the school. Others are trying for our crown but we won't let them!
Bully Free Week
We did a lot of different activities for Bully Free Week. We created some heart displays in the school office with all the different kinds of acts of kindness we could think of. Check out the school office to see the finished product next week. We wrote about being bully free and published that information on pink strips of card which were used to make an enormous paper chain. We even had a drone take a photo of the whole school spelling out the words STAND UP.
Assembly
We worked really hard to prepare for our assembly this Monday gone, well done to all of those who were brave enough to stand up on stage and speak to nearly 300 children.
What's Coming Up...
- Mr Horn is off to Canada on Thursday. Wednesday will be his last day for the following three weeks.
- The Worm Farm trips are next week. We NEED as many 1.5L plastic bottles as you can find.
- On Wednesday 20th June at 6pm we will be holding a Maths-Whizz parents information meeting run by Chris Perkinson. This meeting will be an opportunity to gain further insight into the programme and give you ideas on how you can support your child/children with the programme. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you have about Maths-Whizz.
