We had a busy week last week, with lots of exciting events in our timetable! On Wednesday we had Sports Canterbury come to Oaklands School to put on a Top Team Sports Day for us. The whole school was involved and we were all split into mixed aged teams so that we could use our different strengths to help each other through the challenges. Some of the challenges were really hard, but others were a piece of cake!

On Thursday we had multicultural day. We all came to school dressed in something from our nationality! It was great to see everyone representing their countries with pride. We were also lucky enough to have some teacher aides and parents come to our classes and teach us things from their country. In 2EM and 2KV we learnt how to weave tukutuku panels, all about Japan and Japanese culture, and about Chinese culture. In 2AH and 2EC we ate churros, learnt a South African game, and made Samoan Stencil Art.

We also got to parade around the school waving our national flags that we made. In the afternoon we attended the multicultural performance assembly where we watched some fantastic performances from students throughout the school! We ended multicultural week with multicultural games on Friday afternoon. It was great to learn so many new things about other cultures.
