Last week, the Year 5 students set off for an overnight camp at the Woodend Christian Camp. As this was the first camp off-site for them, there was much excitement and anticipation - especially around the variety of activities that would challenge everyone. The two days were sunny and warm, the planned activities loads of fun, the food was scrumptious and the student’s behaviour was excellent.  The Woodend Christian Camp offers a number of activities for students including orienteering, the climbing wall, team building, go-karting and archery and rifle shooting. All students tried these challenging activities and were thrilled with their own personal successes! Our Oaklands CARE Values were certainly evident with the children cheering others on, persevering, and giving things a go. We had a wonderful two days and a very quiet bus ride home!

The students have had many successes in the past month

The focus of our learning this term is "What changes do I need to make to protect our Earth?" Students have been enjoying finding out about the four seasons, weather patterns , the planets and our solar system.  Our learning celebration will be performances to open the school gala on 2 December, with a "Planet Earth and Beyond" theme.

Today we had our first meeting to begin planning for next years multi-cultural week from 20  - 24 February 2017.

Student Led Conferences are on Monday and Tuesday the 5th and 6th December 2016. This is an opportunity to have your child share their learning and identify their next learning steps.  School will close at 2pm to enable teachers to organise times.

Please book Friday 2 December from 4.30pm for our school Gala.  Our students will be performing from 4.30-5.30pm.

This is the time of year to have a clean out.   If you have any spare items that are surplus to your needs we would appreciate you donating these for our   White Elephant at our Gala. Unfortunately we can not  accept clothing, books or soft toys.

Oaklands has updated its BYOD information which we will be sharing at our BYOD Information Evening

All school trophies and cups must be returned to the school office by Friday 25th November.

Any child leaving or arriving at school between 9am and 3pm must be signed out at the office.

We have itinerant music teachers who come into our school each week and offer music lessons.

A reminder that students cannot be on the school grounds before 8.30am in the mornings.

With the large number of students unwell it is really important that you let the office know if your child will not be at school.

In Terms 1 and 4, all students must wear a hat when they are outdoors.

The purpose of our complaints policy is to provide clear guidelines for the school community in raising and resolving concerns and complaints.

Please respect our NO GO zones and times and be considerate of other students and their families.
