Firewise visit:

On Wednesday the Firewise team visited our kura, along with members of the local Akaroa Volunteer Fire Brigade. They talked about the importance of having working smoke alarms and testing these alarms regularly. Having an escape plan is incredibly important and everyone should have two escape routes for every room. Finally, have a designated meeting place outside where it is safe to call 111. It could be your letterbox if it is far enough away. Thank you to the team who came and visited our kura. Akonga had an amazing time and loved dressing up as firefighters!

Matariki celebrations:

This year Matariki celebrations will be held with a hāngī and shared kai. See the information re Matariki in the next column.

Whanau meetings:

We have whanau meetings scheduled for 1 July. Please complete the attached form and return this to school by Monday 24 June.
