Welcome back to Term 4. I trust that all students and their families enjoyed a well-earned break and are energised for the final term of the year.

Term 4 brings with it the end of the schooling year, but we should not see it this way and hope for the end. We should cherish each last opportunity that comes our way as the year is coming to an end.

Fourteen boys working towards the Silver or Gold levels of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award took part in a tramp over the Rakiura Track on Stewart Island at the end of their term 3 holiday.

Year 10 Food Technology students have started their new topic this week - Cultural Foods. 

This week more than forty students supported the Blood Service's annual appeal for blood.

Twelve teams took part in this annual pre-season tournament.

The Interprovincial Rowing Championships were held at Lake Ruataniwha (Twizel) on 1st and 2nd of October.

OBHS qualifies for Condor 7s Nationals for 6th year in a row. OBHS have continued an amazing winning streak of never losing a 7s match in the South Island for the last 6 years.

Year 9 students Cameron Jefferies and Leo Holt both represented Otago (Under 14) at the Waterpolo Division One national competition in Wellington during the last week of the school holidays. They competed against teams from all over New Zealand finishing in 8th place. Well done boys!

NCEA exams are looming and OBHS has been offered the opportunity for students to receive tutoring with Big Think at a special reduced rate.

As much as possible, could boys and parents please make all medical, (off site) physio, dentist and driving lesson appointments for students out of school time. These one off, but sometimes frequent absences during the year can have a considerable impact on student learning. Your support is appreciated.
