Otago Boys’ High School is a Year 9-13 secondary school for boys. It was established in 1863. Today there are over 800 students, including approximately 140 hostel boys and a small number of international students, enrolled at any one time. In 2023, we will celebrate 160 years.

There are four Houses at OBHS, each named after a famous ‘Old Boy’.

Each House has an appointed Dean to oversee the pastoral care of every student.

The Senior Leadership Team led by the Rector, manage the day to day running of the school.

All of you have a uniform which you should be proud to be wearing. At Year 9 level the Dean takes special note of how the uniform is worn and the pride with which it is worn. It is important all items of uniform are clearly named.

We cater for all the needs of our young men in many ways.

Don't get lost. Use the map to guide you around the school. If you do get stuck just ask someone for directions, or head to the school office and they will help you.

It is fun and rewarding to improve, whether in sports, music or cultural experiences.

The School Haka took approximately 18 months to develop and complete. It has evolved over the past 100 years and different generations have added something to it.

The OBHS Lodge situated in the Matukituki Valley, Mt Aspiring National Park, is the jewel in our crown.

Each course provides the opportunity for existing and future players to improve their skills in a curriculum based programme in their chosen sport.

The first school fee invoice will be emailed to every family at the end of February 2023.

The current school song ‘Follow Up Otago High’ was written in 1909 by Miss Kathleen Park, daughter of A.J. Park (1870-1872), a former Dux.
