Our Year 9 parents and students are invited to attend an orientation evening.

Otago Boys’ High School is a Year 9-13 secondary school for boys. It was established in 1863. Today there are over 800 students, including approximately 150 hostel boys and a small number of international students, enrolled at any one time.

I extend a warm welcome to all new students and thank you for making this your school of choice.

The outline for the start of the 2020 school year is as follows:

The Senior Leadership team led by the Rector, manage the day to day running of the school.

There are four Houses at OBHS, each named after a famous ‘Old Boy’.

Each House has an appointed Dean to oversee the pastoral care of every student.

All of you have a uniform which you should be proud to be wearing. At Year 9 level the Dean takes special note of how the uniform is worn and the pride with which it is worn. It is important all items of uniform are clearly named.

Coming to school and arriving on time are the first steps in succeeding.

Don't get lost. Use the map to guide you around the school. If you do get stuck just ask someone for directions, or head to the school office and they will help you.

The OBHS Lodge situated in the Matukituki Valley, Mt Aspiring National Park, is the jewel in our crown.

We cater for all the needs of our young men in many ways.

Each course provides the opportunity for existing and future players to improve their skills in a curriculum based programme in their chosen sport.

The Otago Boys' High School has a very active and supportive parents' association.

The Parents Association will be holding uniform sales on Monday 20th January and Thursday 23rd January from 5pm until 7pm.

The first invoice will be emailed to every family at the end of February 2020.

It is fun and rewarding to improve in things, whether they be sports, music or cultural experiences.

This original school haka was received with ‘vigorous applause by the boys to show their approval’ (1909). It has since had several changes.
