Winter arrived at school on Monday. We are overdue and certainly I am not complaining, but it prompts me to request that parents do not send their son to school if he is unwell. All that happens is that he stays sick, he infects his classmates and the staff. The illness then stays in the school.

Our progress reports were sent out last week. I read them expecting the usual, expecting the 4s and 5s.

Year 13 student Josh Hill is participating in the Gateway programme and is hosted by Steve Mowat Building and Construction.

Many of you know that the OBHS and OGHS production, Popstars - the 90's Musical, was a show that had a lot of effort put into it by staff and students.

On Wednesday night we held our first combined Whānau hui for ngā tangata o Moana-nui-a-Kiwa (Pacific Ocean). Staff presented an NCEA information evening for parents to find out all they need to know to support their sons on the NCEA journey.

This week has been busy both inside and outside of the classroom.

This afternoon the entire school competed in both the Cross Country championship races and an Interhouse Gumboot Throwing competition.

This week saw the annual winter interschool fixture with Southland Boys' High School.  Following are the results.

This week saw the running of the Otago/Southland Road Race which was held in fine conditions in Milton.

Year 10 student Tyler-Joe Lilly has been selected in the Futsal South's Under 16 team which will compete in a national tournament being held in Palmerston North in July.  Congratulations Tyler-Joe an impressive achievement!

Nominations for the Board of Trustee elections closed last Friday and we received fourteen nominations.

Parents will be aware of recent cases of measles that have shut some North Island schools. While there is no information regarding an outbreak in Otago that I am aware of, it makes sense for us to share this information from the Ministry of Education. Please note, this is shared with you in terms of raising awareness. It is not instruction from the school.
