Anniversary weekend could be considered a welcome respite for the boys to recharge their batteries.

Time. It’s our most valuable resource. It’s finite. We never know just how much time we have left in the bank. You cannot purchase more of it, you cannot ask for a loan, you’ve got what you’ve been given. So why waste it away? Instead, invest it. Invest it in bettering yourself, bettering those around you, and bettering the world for those who will succeed you.

This past weekend saw our Elite Senior Debate Squad lock horns with Schools from throughout the Otago/Southland region in the annual Russell McVeigh Regional Debate Competition.

On Thursday afternoon Year 11 students attended the 'Safer Journeys Expo' at the Edgar Centre. The expo had four stations and started with a simulated car accident and emergency response. The experience highlighted the importance of 'making the right call' when it comes to the use of a vehicle.

Level 3 students are currently looking at practices used by multinational food corporations which influence food choice and eating patterns. The practical component to this has seen students creating 'healthy' home made versions of the types of food sold at these establishments. Last week students created customised burgers, with awesome results.

Our Pasifika Homework Club has started this Wednesday. The Homework Club will run every Wednesday after school from 3:30 to 5:00pm and will be facilitated by staff and old boys.

Congratulations to OBHS rowers Tate Drummond and Olly Higgins who represented the North End Rowing Club and were placed 6th in the Mens Coxed Club Four at the New Zealand Nationals held in Twizel recently. A great achievement for our young rowers!

The 2017 Maadi Cup squad are reaping the benefits of their huge training commitments by coming home from the South Island Secondary Schools regatta with three podium finishes.

Funding is available through the Ngai Tahu Learner Support Fund to enable Ngai Tahu Whanau to access personalized tuition to support their tamariki and help further their progress at school.

Hello everyone! So I’m sure most of you have already heard about this but Otago Boys’ High School is participating in the Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand’s annual Shave for a Cure event.

Recovery Room Physiotherapy runs a clinic at school from the Shand Building. Their three physios, Matt Carrington, Alex Gough and Thomas Wardhaugh are happy to treat all students.

April sees a rare return to Dunedin of one of our notable Old Boys and one of the city's favourite sons. 

As much as possible, could boys and parents please make all medical, (off site) physio, dentist and driving lesson appointments for students out of school time. These one off, but sometimes frequent absences during the year can have a considerable impact on student learning. Your support is appreciated.
