We recently held our Open Day and I would like to thank all the students and staff who helped.

We are aware there have been some cases of Chicken Pox in the community recently and this has affected a small number of our students.

A group of students from 10DMA worked hard over the week of the 9 August to organise a charity bake sale.

Rebecca Golding competed in the Manawatu/Whanganui team that competed at the New Zealand Gymnastics Championships at Trusts Arena, Auckland in the second week of the Term 2 School Holidays.

On Wednesday 11 August, 10 teams from PNGHS travelled to New Plymouth to compete against New Plymouth Girls’ High School in our annual Winter Sports Exchange.

Tayla Sebire (Y13), Georgia Packer (Y11), Anika Moleta (Y9) & Scout Carter (Y9) represented PNGHS at the NZ Secondary School Swimming Championships over the Term 2 school holidays.

Four PNGHS students competed at the NZ Artistic Roller Skating Championships during the Term 2 school holidays.

Congratulations to Jessie Coxon who placed 2nd in the U16 Girls grade at the North Island Secondary School Cyclocross Championships on 24 July in Upper Hutt.

On Tuesday 27 July, PNGHS travelled to Masterton to compete against Wairarapa College in our annual Winter Sports Exchange.

The restaurant in the ACT department is used by senior hospitality students during the year for Food and Beverage service and High Tea in particular. It has recently had a face lift and been named Kai Reka which means delicious food.

Three teams of Year 12 students were selected to represent the school at this competition.

The choir has had a very busy start to the term. In week one, they participated in a workshop by visiting clinician Michaela Cadwgan.

With over 100 PNGHS students performing in everything from trios to large groups, both beginners and advanced players enjoyed a day of music making on 8 August 2021.

A huge ‘well done’ to Stay in It (Rhema Brown, Victoria Brown, Roseta Leau and Natasha Vilivili) who competed for a place in the national finals of both the Smokefree Rockquest and Tangata Beats, after their dual win at the regional competitions.

A big congratulations to Eden Brown, vocalist and bass player with Crumbly Jack. The band has been selected as one of 7 national finalist bands at the SFRQ.

Our friends Dame Suzie Moncrieff and Heather Palmer from World of WearableArt commenced their judging, and were pleased to let us know that the following students from PNGHS, have won the following national awards:

The 'Validate' exhibition is currently up at Square Edge Palmerston North until 6 September.

Following on from her success in winning the solo/duo category of the regional Smokefree Rockquest competition, CeCe (Charlotte McMillan) is one of four young NZ singer-songwriters to have her song selected by the NZSO for performance in concert with the orchestra.
