Jon Rogers - November 16, 2020
Junior Block teachers and classes are on the move at the end of this year. The junior block building has weather tightness issues. At the start of the Christmas holidays the block will be handed over to the contractors who, during the next few months, will replace the roof and flashings, renew the guttering and downpipes and complete other work to ensure the building is weather tight. New lighting will be installed in the classrooms and the toilets will have ventilation installed. This work will take until the Easter holidays to complete. If all goes well, the classes will move back in at the start of Term 2.
This means there will be a big shift at the end of this term. All classes will be relocated to other places around the school for term 1 next year. When your child’s school report and class placement information comes home at the end of the year, you will see which temporary space they will be learning in.
Rooms 1&2 (NEST – New entrants) – Ilisa Kearns & Judith Short will move to Room 20.
Rooms 4&5 Molly-Rose Chetwin-Kelly and Jess McCoy will move to the hall where separate teaching spaces will be set up for each class.
Rooms 6&7 Helen Bancroft and Brittany Levick will move to two portacom rooms which will be brought on site and situated on the grassy area beside the hall and school gardens.
A lot of work is going in to ensure that the temporary teaching spaces are well-appointed and set up to ensure normal school work will continue as usual.
We expect that the contractors will access and bring their material on site through Shenley Park alongside the Kidsfirst kindergarten. However, we expect to maintain parent access through this area throughout the construction time.
