Introducing Kris

Kiaora koutou

My name is Kris and I am delighted to be joining the Raphael house whanau and transitioning the current class one on into class two in 2024.

My husband and I are originally from the north of England and moved to our beautiful Aotearoa in 2007. We have lived in the Hutt for most of that time and have found our Turangawaewae / place of standing here.

We have 4 children, 2 grown and flown, and 2 still in the nest. They are all strong, wise and beautiful souls that we have been so proud to raise, and now enjoy as the young adults they have become.

In my previous life, I worked as a midwife for 20 years in the UK and in the Hutt and Wellington region.

I transitioned to my other passion - teaching and nurturing nga tamariki teacher in 2017 :)

I have spent time working in primary, kindergarten and my favorite - forest school!

I believe that relationships between tamariki, whanau and kaiako are key in building a learning community that can thrive, love and grow together

Outside of mahi my big passions are gardening, growing Kai, being in nature and cuddling with my cats. Yes, I am a crazy cat lady!
