RSHS Newsletter - Term 3, Issue 3

KORERO FROM MIRANDA

Kia ora Rototuna e te whānau,

I hope this newsletter finds you well as we move past the halfway point of Term 3! This can be a hard time of year both mentally and physically for our students as they are thinking about plans for next year, while also trying to take their learning to the next level and finish well. Part of our school’s vision is that we want to enable each other to soar. This means that during these more challenging times of the year, it is important to rally together in ways that support our students to keep healthy, and motivated. Simple things like encouraging your young person to get enough sleep, eat healthily, and help them break larger goals into smaller achievable steps can help maintain motivation. Your young person’s progress report is being emailed to you in two weeks time and may help with these conversations. If you have any questions or concerns about this report, as always please do not hesitate to contact your student’s Kaiārahi.

Since the last newsletter, our young people have been making a positive difference in the world through Puna Wānanga. This week heralds Daffodil Day on Friday (30th August). To raise funds for the Cancer Society, Flynn Allison and his Puna team organised a Car Show for Cancer. We hosted over 30 amazing cars along with their generous owners who supported this event. Thank you to everyone who supported this great event. We have another Puna project working with the Cancer Society who have planted over 400 daffodil bulbs throughout the community. On Friday they will be selling flowers, holding a bake sale and having a sausage sizzle to raise more money for this worthy cause. In this newsletter you will find more information about student-led Puna Wānanga projects, some amazing opportunities (Youth Search and Rescue), and there is a health update from the Ministry. Until next time, have a great week and stay safe

Ngā manākitanga,

Miranda
