RJHS Newsletter - Term 3, Issue 1

FRASER'S FAREWELL MESSAGE

Welcome back to Term 3 and Semester 2. It has been really nice to be back over the last 10 days or so following my sabbatical last term.

This is of course my final eNews bulletin before I leave to take on my new role at Waimea College so I wanted to take this opportunity to farewell everyone. I have been in my role here now for a little over eight years and I have seen the school begin with a few bits of steel and concrete in the ground in 2015 before we opened, through to operating successfully with a little over 1360 students and over 150 staff. We have seen four year group cohorts of students go through the Junior High and graduate at the end of Year 13, at the Senior High, and have had many achievements in academic, cultural, arts and sporting areas of the school already.

I am immensely proud of all the work and support that the staff, Board members (past and present), you as parents and caregivers and of course our wonderful students have contributed to make RJHS such a great place. We should all be proud of our young people and the role we have played in them being successful in school and beyond. I am confident that RJHS will continue to thrive after my departure. We have a great team of people here focussed on some very clear goals and a shared vision for learning which I know they will continue to strive towards.

We are close to an important milestone for the school with significant additional learning spaces becoming available for learning. While we have continued to successfully deliver learning opportunities and positive outcomes for our learning in existing spaces, this has been challenging. I know that this additional space will be huge in offering even more exciting learning opportunities for our young people and will lead to even better outcomes.

Thank you to all whānau for your positive support of me as Principal and our school as a whole. While I am very much looking forward to my new role at Waimea College I am also sad to leave a wonderful place of work, colleagues, friends and you all as supporters of our school.

The students are holding a short assembly on Wednesday 2 August at 10.30 am which will be my final day. Parents/caregivers are welcome to come along if you wish to see me before I leave.
