Last Wednesday September 22nd at 1.00pm, two very competitive games of basketball were played.

We would like all netball, hockey, and basketball uniforms (for those children who have not let Mrs Wiseley know they are playing next term), returned in a clean condition to the school office by this Friday.

Children were each given their access keycode to bring home last week to enable you to purchase class and portrait photos which were taken earlier this term

Room 18 have been exploring the different elements of dance. The three Patricia Ave satellites had a theme of 'The Garden'. One satellite was having a picnic in the gardens when along came the bees and butterflies (another satellite), followed by the rain (Silverdale Normal Satellite).

The Parent Teacher Group (PTG) is a group of parents and teachers that work to create fun events for the kids and fundraise for the school. We always welcome new members - we’d love to see some new faces at our meetings. If you can’t commit to meetings but would like to help out at events, please let us know. We especially need parents that can help out during the day occasionally.

The Parent Teacher Group AGM will be held on Thursday, 28th October, at 7pm, in the school staff room, followed by supper, then our ordinary meeting. All welcome. Come and hear what we have been up to over the past year. We invite nominations for officers: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer. There is a nomination sheet outside the staffroom, or bring your nominations to the meeting.

Our PJ Day donation has now been dropped off to the team at Waikids. Thank you again to our school community for your generous donations. This will support the good work that happens up at Waikids at Waikato Hospital and make a massive difference to all the unwell and injured children who spend time in hospital.

Silverdale Normal School has a new partnership with Four Square Silverdale to support our fundraising activities. From this Friday, 01 October when school community members make a purchase at Four Square Silverdale, they will gift a % of your purchase to our school account, which we can use towards purchasing items for our fundraisers. Please come and check the lost property that has accumulated during our shortened term. There is a mountain of good quality clothing that needs to find its way back to its rightful owners. We encourage you to name your children's clothing so it can easily be returned to them.

We would like to offer enormous thanks to the wonderful volunteers from the Society of St Vincent De Paul who have provided us with school lunches for families in need over the last fourteen years. Every day without fail they have arrived with healthy lunches for us to distribute.

If your child would like to purchase a cup of milo (with two marshmallows this coming Friday), please give him/her a reusable cup to bring from home (unbreakable if possible). The cost is $1.00 and is available from the school kitchen window between 8.30-8.50am.

This term the children have enjoyed producing a piece of art for this year's Calendar Art. Samples of their art, along with an order form, will come home with the children in Week 1 of Term 4. Orders must be returned by Friday, 29th October.

We would like to remind you that in Term 4, children need to wear a named hat at morning tea, lunchtime and during any outdoor activities.

We will be holding a Cultural Evening in week 3 of next term, on Tuesday, 2nd November. This will be held from 6.00pm in the Cultural Centre at Berkley Normal Middle School. This will involve students learning a musical instrument here at school, our Kapa Haka, Pasifika Group and our School Choir. All our school community are invited to attend.

First Credit Union's school banking team will be back at our school from the first week of next term. School Bank Books are collected on a Wednesday and returned to us by the end of each week.

Vision Hearing Technicians from Community and Southern Rural Health will be visiting our school on the first day of next term. The objective of the test is to identify previously undetected vision and hearing defects. If any parents/caregivers do not want their child to be checked, or their child is currently under specialist care for a vision or hearing defect, please let the school know.

Each year we earn sports equipment from these stickers, so we ask you to save all your stickers from fruit you purchase. There are three differing sheets for these labels, all of which are attached to this newsletter.

The October School Holiday Programme is now live and bookable. 4th-15th October. Book for the YMCA holiday programme this October and they will enjoy some amazing experiences. We have Play-Lu, Cake Decorating, Circus in a Flash, Learn to ride a Unicycle, Extreme Edge, Spring Festival, Bricks 4 kids, Redwoods Tree walk and so much more on offer depending on which site you choose to book.

In the Term 3 School Holidays Star Turf will once again be offering our very popular Holiday Programme. This is very much a football based holiday programme for less experienced and experienced players alike. Participants still get to learn new skills and play football based games, but we will also provide a few non-football based activities to break up the day.

A programme for 7 to 12 year olds is being held at the Lugton Park Squash Club on Tuesday and Wednesday, 5th/6th October and 12th/13th October.
