Earlier this week, Garth Wynne (Christ’s College) and I joined our fellow Anglican School principals for a day’s professional workshop at St John’s College in Auckland.

We were thrilled to unveil a very special sculpture on the opening night of the Art Exhibition last week.

The biannual SMC Foundation Art Exhibition and Sculpture Garden held last weekend was a huge success.

Earlier this week, seven SMC girls participated in the Mission Sustainable Challenge.

On Tuesday we recognised the girls in the Middle School that have achieved Middle School Arts Badges and Middle School Colours in the Arts. An Arts Badge will be awarded to students who have demonstrated a high level of skill, with a minimum of two full years of committed contribution at Middle School level to one or more of the arts. This will include participation in at least two different school co-curricular groups or projects for two full years.

With the impending festive season and end of school celebrations, some teenagers may be feeling ready to party, wanting to put the disruptions, frustrations and disappointments of this past year, behind them.

Perfectly timed for the lead up to the festive season, SMC Rowing is running a fundraiser featuring Eradus wines, Roots gin and Daniel le Brun bubbles at discounted prices.

Parents are warmly invited to the PFA Christmas Party, a way of saying thank you to our regular volunteers but also a great way for parents who have not yet been involved to come along and socialise.

Last week we had our annual Sport Awards evening for 2020. After what has been a very challenging year it was fantastic to be able to see actually just how much we have all achieved in the world of sport. A huge congratulations goes out to all of our award recipients. Just to be nominated for some of these prestigious awards is an honour in itself.

Thank you to everyone who has ordered and picked up their Christmas goodies. The great news is we have been able to secure another delivery for next week and can still take orders up until 8am Monday.
