We were thrilled to have three of our Year 13 boarders achieve to a national level in sport over the holidays, Molly Williams in Hockey and Te Ata Hassan and Ashlyn Koce in Netball. Caitlin Dufty, Year 12, was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Music Award. Tess Morgan was part of the SMC equestrian team that triumphed over the weekend. We are very proud of them all.

Hockey and Netball Win and Honours

A record number of St Margaret’s College girls competed in two triumphant Canterbury sports teams that won their respective national titles during the recent Term break.

Ten SMC girls made under 18 regional selection – five in netball and five in hockey.

Boarders, Te Ata Hassan and Ashlyn Koce, triumphed in the Canterbury U18A netball team, claiming top honours with the Margaret Forysth Cup.

Boarder Molly Williams lined up for the winning U18A girls hockey team.

The girls also earned honours and received their red blazer, Te Ata was re awarded her honours as she received a red blazer last year.

We are very proud of the girls and look forward to watching their sporting journey as they embark on the next chapter in their lives.

Equestrian

Check out the Equestrian report below featuring our very own Tess Morgan, Tess lives on the West Coast but has brought her horse to school with her!

On Sunday 7th Aug, we had an SMC team compete in the CSS One Day Horse Trial.

Tess Morgan, Alice Macdonald, Kate McDonald and Belize McQuarrie all took part in 3 disciples across the day - Dressage, Showjumping and Cross Country.

All of our riders had a great start to the day, gaining two 1st places and two 2nd places in dressage which put us ahead from the start and set up the team well going into showjumping and cross country where the girls went all clear, putting the team ahead by 6 points!

SMC took out 1st place and came home with the Jane Sullivan Trophy.

A huge congratulations to our Equestrian girls! We are looking forward to seeing you all in action again soon at the SISS Equestrian event from 29th Aug-1st Sept.
