Biology essay gains international scholarship

Emily Jin has received a scholarship through Immerse Education, a provider that offers educational experiences at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.

Immerse Education provides students aged 11-18 with unparallelled education experiences, helping prepare participants for future success.

As part of her scholarship programme, Emily had to write an essay. She chose biology as her category and chose ‘to what extent is human behavior genetically determined?’ from the list of options provided from the educator. Her essay covered how behaviour is affected by both the environment and genetics, but it is the extent that varies for each individual - a topic she enjoyed writing about because of its thought-provoking nature.

Recipients of the award can use their discount received from the scholarship to enrol in programme of their choice. Emily will decide which programme to persue at Oxford or Cambridge Universities and may opt for the online option given the state of Covid-19 across the world.

“I encourage those other students who are considering applying for the Immerse Education scholarships to do so. This has been a rewarding experience for me and an excellent insight into studying biology at an advanced level,” says Emily.

Congratulations Emily, a great opportunity and well deserved.
